Overview
Where Sound Becomes Vision
Untitled is a month-long collaborative project brought together students from a Performance (PERF) class and our TouchDesigner class to create a live visual performance using TouchDesigner, staged in the university’s Blackbox Theatre. The performance translated a piano duet into real-time, audio-reactive visuals, focusing on creating an immersive and expressive experience for a public audience of students, faculty, friends, and family.
Final Thoughts
Learnings
This TouchDesigner project was an eye-opening experience that pushed me outside my comfort zone and challenged me to think beyond traditional 2D design. After years of focusing on print and graphic design through past internships, exploring interactivity, projection, and experiential design was something completely new...and it helped me realize how much I enjoy creating meaningful, immersive experiences.
Learning a new, highly technical tool like TouchDesigner also affirmed something important about myself: I’m always open to exploring new ideas, new software, and new ways of bridging design and technology. In many ways, this project reflects that same spirit of curiosity and forward thinking that I want to carry into my work as a designer.
